  • Yogurt: 130, 250 & 400ml. Inyange Yogurt flavors: plain, apricot, vanilla, banana, strawberry and pineapple. To offset its natural sourness, yogurt is also sold sweetened, flavoured or in containers with fruit or fruit jam on the bottom. If the fruit has been stirred into the yogurt before purchase, it is sometimes referred to in the United States as Swiss-style. Some yogurts contain added pectin, found naturally in fruit, and/or gelatin to create thickness and creaminess artificially at lower cost. This type of yogurt is also marketed under the name Swiss-style, although it is unrelated to the way yogurt is eaten in Switzerland. Some yogurts, often called "cream line," are made with whole milk which has not been homogenized so the cream rises to the top. Fruit jam is used instead of raw fruit pieces in fruit yogurts to allow storage for weeks. Large amounts of sugar – or other sweeteners for low-calorie yogurts – are often used in commercial yogurt.
  • Originally, ikivuguto| buttermilk was the liquid left behind after churning butter out of cream. This type of buttermilk is known as traditional buttermilk. Traditionally, before cream could be skimmed from whole milk, the milk was left to sit for a period of time to allow the cream and milk to separate. During this time, naturally occurring lactic acid-producing bacteria in the milk fermented it. This facilitates the butter churning process, since fat from cream with a lower pH coalesces more readily than that of fresh cream. The acidic environment also helps prevent potentially harmful microorganisms from growing, increasing shelf-life.[3] However, in establishments that used cream separators, the cream was hardly acidic at all.
  • Fresh Cream: 500 ml Cream is a dairy product that is composed of the higher-butterfat layer skimmed from the top of milk before homogenization. Cream is a dairy product that is composed of the higher-butterfat layer skimmed from the top of milk before homogenization. In un-homogenized milk, over time, the lighter fat rises to the top. In the industrial production of cream this process is accelerated by using centrifuges called "separators". In many countries, cream is sold in several grades depending on the total butterfat content. Cream can be dried to a powder for shipment to distant markets. Cream skimmed from milk may be called "sweet cream" to distinguish it from whey cream skimmed from whey, a by-product of cheese-making. Whey cream has a lower fat content and tastes more salty, tangy and "cheesy". Cream produced by cattle (particularly Jersey cattle) grazing on natural pasture often contains some natural carotenoid pigments derived from the plants they eat; this gives the cream a slight yellow tone, hence the name of the yellowish-white color, cream.
